In 1992, 12-year-old Severn Cullis-Suzuki gave a speech at the Rio Earth Summit demanding action on global sustainability from the adults. Twenty years on, did the adults fail her?
A.
Yep. The first Rio conference was hopeful, but it would have taken real courage from leaders to make that hope real. It would have meant standing up to the fossil fuel industry. Almost none of them turned out to have that courage.
