Post Carbon's very own communications director is experiencing the effects of brittle transportation networks as volcanic ash reeks havoc on European air travel. Tod and his wife Andrea were interviewed by CNN as they wait to get back to California.
The story was also picked up by the Press Democrat.
From the article:
A next-door neighbor offered to visit family so the couple could have her home for a few days. She returned when her 6-year-old came down with chicken pox, and another family headed to London so the pair could have their home. They will move to yet another neighbor’s house before their trip is over.
Brilliant andBarrett are doing what they can to return the favor. They baby-sit for neighborhood children. They run errands at the town’s 800-year-old farmers market. Brilliant also built a telephone with two tin cans and a 50-foot string so the cloistered, sick child could talk to her friend next door.
“I just feel really lucky by the hospitality of this town,” he said.
