NC Powerdown hopes to raise awareness about the imminent peak in worldwide oil production, influence policy decisions that concern fossil energy use, and be a resource to members as they convert to lower energy lifestyles.

We draw from the greater Triangle region with participants in the group from Durham, Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Carrboro, Cary, and other nearby towns.
Our current activities include:
- Monthly movie screenings or speakers
- Working with local government to improve their understanding of and response to Peak Oil
- Serving as a support/resource network for individuals/families as they powerdown
