Last week, Hurricane Irene forced President Obama to cut short his vacation in New England. Returning to the White House, he passed a crowd of over 100 people risking arrest to protest the proposed Keystone XL pipeline. One can only wonder if the President himself made the connection between the pipeline, due to bring ruinous tar sands oil to the US, and the increased likelihood of extreme weather events like the hurricane which just devastated communities up and down the entire eastern seaboard.
Obama's decision to approve or reject the pipeline is its own perfect storm -- a salient moment that brings together the threads of extreme energy, climate change, and political leadership. Which is why, in this month's messenger, we're asking for folks to step up and be part of the conversation.

PREPARE FOR ACTION!
Over the past couple of years, we've fielded many requests by our supporters for an effective presentation they can deliver in their own communities. Well, we're on the case! Right now, we're developing a customizable presentation designed to start a dialogue with your friends, family, neighbors, associations, etc. about what the end of cheap and easy oil means for all of us.
We've all heard plenty of one-way preaching. Let's now engage in constructive, persuasive dialogues that lead people to act.
For this presentation to be effective, we'll need your help. We need presenters and we need the funds to help create a framework for training those presenters.
Learn more about the project here. Then, contact us to learn about our Presenter Program.
