Special appeal from Bill Rees: Support Post Carbon Institute!
Dear Friends,
Much of humanity's 'ecological footprint' and the negative impacts it creates - including increasing greenhouse gases, accelerating climate change and landscape destruction - are the result of careless exploration for, and wasteful use of, fossil fuels.
Little wonder that more and more people are discovering the critical need to use much less energy. Among other things, this realization has initiated a global movement to live more locally. By supporting Post Carbon Institute with your tax deductible donation, you are joining an international network of citizens sharing ideas, knowledge, and practical strategies for living well with much less energy.
With your support, the Post Carbon Institute will:
- Connect communities through the Relocalization Network, which continues to grow at an unprecedented rate. There are now 106 member groups in 10 different countries around the world. More than 60 additional groups have applied to join the network and more requests are coming in every day.
- Assist municipalities through the Powerdown Project developed by New College students under the guidance of Richard Heinberg. This research template provides community leaders and local governments with information about the need to assess their vulnerabilities to a decline in the supply of cheap energy and to plan for action.
- Develop the Local Energy Demonstration Project at the University of British Columbia. This project will demonstrate to communities how to develop their renewable energy capacity and increase their energy security.
- Educate the public about the need to use less energy. The online broadcast station Global Public Media and the Post Carbon Think Tank develop and share educational resources, Relocalization project ideas, and information about Local Post Carbon Groups.
Every day Post Carbon Institute receives a flood of new requests from all over the world for more support. We need your support to make sure Post Carbon Institute has the resources to keep pace with this exponential growth.
Please make a donation today to support the Post Carbon Institute’s increasingly vital work.
We also have exciting news: your donations are now tax-deductible! When you make a donation over $100, we will send you a U.S. tax receipt in the mail.
Thank you for your ongoing generosity and support.
Yours truly,

William E. Rees, PhD
